This site is the result of an enrichment project of a fifth grade student to help children turn their "Horse Dreams" into a reality through the help of information on the education of caring, riding, and owning a horse. We hope you'll find this website helpful with the basic info, listings, and links to various other sites on horses.

CARE

1. FOOD
-Approximately 5 lbs. of grain per day.
-Horse foods include: grain, hay, corn, molasses and sweet feed.
-Some foods dangerous to horses include:
yew, foxglove, privet, beech, and lily of the valley
-Need plenty of clean water to drink.
2. GROOMING
-Use mild shampoo and a large sponge to wash horse.
-Wash horse in warm area and if possible use warm water.
-Don't forget the hard-to-reach spots like belly, legs, and tail.
-Dry horse with anti-sweat sheets or clean towels.
-Use rubber curry comb to remove loose hairs from coat.
-Use metal-toothed comb to remove tangles.
-Brush frequently to remove dirt off coat.
-Clean hooves with hoof pick to remove dirt and debris.
